Scope

Creation and run of Exclusion Mapping workshops across 4 COVID-19 services by mapping user research to a universal barriers framework and highlighting where services within UKHSA were not supporting excluded groups. Then, we created personas using an excluded groups matrix and ran workshops with service teams to run through their services from the perspective of these personas and their barriers.

Finally, we created and prioritised recommendations for service teams that were moved to their backlogs

Outcome

The workshops had two main benefits: one, it gave service teams tangible solutions on how to make their service more inclusive, and secondly, upskilled and taught colleagues how to consider excluded groups' needs when updating or designing new services.
